Technology Overview
TTO — Thermal Transfer Overprinting
TTO uses a heated printhead to transfer ink from a ribbon onto the film surface. The printhead presses the ribbon against the film for a fraction of a second, leaving a high-quality print impression. Print is typically 25–53mm wide. Line speeds up to 120–150 m/min for standard models, 200 m/min for servo-driven high-speed units.
Laser Coding
Laser uses a focused beam (typically CO₂ at 10.6 micron wavelength for polymers) to ablate, bleach or engrave the film surface. No consumables after capital — the laser diode is rated for 20,000+ hours. Print is permanent and tamper-evident. Line speeds up to 300+ m/min depending on character height and content.

When to Choose TTO

- BOPP, CPP, polyethylene pouches at medium speeds
- Lower capital budget — Rs 15–35 lakh is unavailable
- Multiple lines with lower individual volumes
- Local service engineer must be available without specialist laser training
- Existing TTO line — replacement with same technology reduces retraining
When to Choose Laser
- High-speed VFFS lines (150+ m/min) where ribbon change is a bottleneck
- Black polyethylene, dark LDPE films where TTO print is not visible
- Very high volume single-line operations (50M+ prints per year)
- Where permanent, tamper-evident coding is required (laser ablation cannot be removed)
- Where zero-consumable running is strategically important
